Various freelance design jobs since arriving in Adelaide. Designed concepts for a pitch for Monax Mining and Marmota Energy, a large mining company in SA, worked for Avant-Garde Thinking in the Adelaide CBD and currently working on various other jobs and potential jobs.

Before leaving the UK I was working for family business setting up and implementing an in-house design & marketing department for this growing financial company using my decade or so of experience. I had it in place with by the time I left for Australia.
Steedman & Company is a tax accountancy firm with 1000 clients comprised from small to medium-sized businesses. Steedman & Company focuses on close personal relationships with its clients and helping people with everyday matters such as payroll, as well as complicated tax issues.
I recently left Steedman & Company after completing the project and in order to actively pursue my goal of emigrating to Australia.

Worked on a large, lottery-funded project sub-contracted to me by a film production company, Beanland Films. Handled print as well as DVD label design and production.
Beanland Films is a film production company which specialises in public service documentaries and charities as well as corporate work.
I ceased working for Beanland due to the completion of the project.

Responsible for the design of annual reports. Highly skilled role which involved large degree of accuracy, attention to detail and extensive artwork checks. Fine detail print handling and also involved in online annual reports. Worked for many large corporate ‘Top 200’ clients.
PRM Marketing is a highly respected and professional design company focusing on annual reports and the business and commercial sector.
I left Corporate PRM due to the cessation of a 4 month contract.

Decided to take a few months to do a ‘round the world’ trip Visited Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and the U.S.A. After returning to the UK I decided to move to Australia within around 2 years.

Worked for this airline’s in-house design and marketing department on in-flight magazines, safety cards, in-flight menus, travel brochures and the company website.
Part of the Globespan Group, Flyglobespan is a Scottish, low-budget airline similar to Virgin Blue or Jetstar. The company has risen to the top of it’s field in the competitive airline industry and won several awards.
I left Flyglobespan at this time due to completion of a 3 month contract.

Web Designer & Production Assistant
Design/digital artwork for magazine including print ads. Used Quark, Acrobat and various print applications. Job involved close liaison with advertising department and dealing with clients who were advertisers. On non-production week (The List is bimonthly) I was responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the magazine’s website. This included updating sections, working with IT specialists on e-commerce aspects, to designing and building Flash adverts and banners.
Was also extensively involved with Map Magazine, a visual art, sister publication of The List. Involved in magazine design (page layout),
advertising design and the website.
The List Magazine is Scotland’s premiere arts and cultural listing magazine with a large, broad readership across the Central Belt of the country. As well as having an award winning website, which I designed, The List produces a series of popular guides on travel, the bar scene and the immensely popular ‘Eating & Drinking Guide’ which comes out every year.
I left The List at this time to pursue other career opportunities.

Almond Design is a large, prestigious company in the UK’s top 20 ranked design companies. They specialise in several areas such as packaging design, branding and annual reports.
This was a junior role and my first job after art college. I left to have a go at starting my own company.

Junior Designer (work experience in university break)
Worked with a team of twelve including designers, computer programmers, musicians and writers producing graphics for multi-media applications using Adobe Director.
Fusion New Media was a very creative company started at an exciting time in the London new media scene. They created some of the first Adobe Director web animations and music. The directors of the
firm eventually went on to form other companies.
This was a work experience role during my final year of art college. |
